On Saturday, 18 May, the BKS juniors faced LDJ table leaders Miedź Legnica. The visitors from Legnica, who are fighting for promotion to the macroregional league, arrived determined to get what they came for, but they were unable to beat the very ambitious Bolesławiec side on the day. Throughout the match, the visitors created many scoring opportunities. Unfortunately, they lacked efficiency. It is worth noting that despite Legnica’s apparent dominance, we could have gone into the break with a one-goal lead. However, after a foul on Daniel Ziółkowski, Kornel Dobrowolski failed to convert a penalty.
The second half brought increasingly chaotic attacks from the Legnica side, who began to feel the pressure. The visiting coach was sent to the stands for unsporting conduct, while the players, relying mechanically on long passes, kept running into a wall formed by the Bolesławiec players, who defended heroically at times. The hosts launched several dangerous counterattacks. Unfortunately, we also failed to take the lead. After one of the free kicks, Kornel, who was having an excellent match, hit the crossbar. We played the final 10 minutes with a player fewer after Marek Faryniarz had to leave the pitch following his second yellow card. Despite this, we held on to the draw and headed to the dressing room with our heads held high.
A huge round of applause for the entire team, which left everything on the pitch and proved that tremendous ambition and commitment must be rewarded! It is worth remembering that three quarters of our juniors are younger-age-group players, yet they are bravely standing up to the older players in this league.
