The Jelenia Góra Regional Court granted the motion of the prosecutor from the District Prosecutor’s Office in Bolesławiec and on 14 May 2013 sentenced Kazimierz S. to life imprisonment.

We wrote about the case in June last year. The incident occurred in the village of Modła (Gromadka municipality). Kazimierz S. raped Jadwiga K. and then struck her around the head with a wooden pole. Numerous marks indicating particularly brutal conduct by the perpetrator were found on the victim’s body. The woman died as a result of her injuries.

The victim’s body was found in a flooded area near a forest. Investigators determined that S. had taken revenge because the victim had notified law enforcement authorities of a crime committed by the man’s brother.

Moreover, the 47-year-old had already come into conflict with the law. He had been sentenced to three- and six-year terms of imprisonment for sexual offences. In his home village, he was regarded as aggressive and dangerous—he had repeatedly accosted and harassed women living there.

The suspect confessed to committing the offence with which he was charged. The court agreed with the prosecutor that Kazimierz S. had committed the offence with a motive deserving particular condemnation. The ruling is not final.
