In May 2008, St Maria de Mattias became the patron saint of Bolesławiec. The history of Maria de Matiias and the congregation she founded is inextricably linked with Bolesławiec. The Adorers began their mission in Bolesławiec in 1946, when they arrived together with repatriates from what was then Yugoslavia.

The idea of unity among people proclaimed by St Maria De Mattias found a particularly important application in the Bolesławiec region, which in the post-war period constituted a unique cultural and national melting pot. It contributed to the spiritual development of the local community and to making it more sensitive to the fate of others.
