– I would personally like to congratulate Councillor Sakowski, who, as the school’s headmaster, has apparently for the first time in history overtaken I General Secondary School in the ranking – said the mayor Piotr Roman during the April session of the City Council.
In the latest ranking of general secondary schools from our region, which takes into account the EWD indicator, or educational added value, and was prepared by the well-known weekly “Nowiny Jeleniogórskie”, first place went to I LO in Jelenia Góra. II LO in Jelenia Góra and LO in Mirsk tied for second place. II LO im. Janusza Korczaka in Bolesławiec took fourth place (Bolesławiec’s I LO was seventh in this ranking). – This ranking is prepared quite solidly every year by “Nowiny Jeleniogórskie” – the mayor added.
– As the headmaster of II LO, I attach less importance to rankings, but I am always pleased that independent media notice the changes that have taken place at our school – comments Mirosław Sakowski. – I congratulate the teachers; we owe the steadily growing interest in our school mainly to their work.
Further successes of II LO students
Ten students from the school took part in the national English Ace 2013 competition, organized by Łowcy Talentów Jersz. – It is a competition with a twenty-year tradition – emphasizes Anna Sas, an English teacher and co-organizer of the event.
Nearly 9,000 students took part in the national stage. Kacper Piecyk, a first-year student at II LO, proved to be the best in Lower Silesia (second in Poland), while Katarzyna Sadlak placed eighth in the province and 46th nationally. – Kacper above all worked for his own success – says Robert Mazur, an English teacher and the form tutor of the finalist in this year’s English Ace edition. – I hope this achievement will help him achieve further successes – he adds.
