The Thursday session of the Bolesławiec County Council was turbulent. Residents of the Nowogrodziec municipality attended it together with Mayor Robert Relich. The group protested against the condition of county roads in the municipality. The residents demanded, above all, that the road between Gościszów and Ocice be renovated.
The protesters brought, among other things, a damaged wheel rim and a piece of asphalt. Starost Cezary Przybylski said that the local government would carry out the renovation if the Nowogrodziec Municipality also joined the investment.
Robert Relich: “We do not have a proper host in Bolesławiec County. The renovation of a road for which the starost is responsible cannot be made dependent on funding from the Municipality. We expect the starost to manage to renovate this road using the county’s own resources. I wanted the agreement to be renegotiated [nie obejmuje ono remontu odcinka wspomnianej drogi, który leży już na terenie Gminy Wiejskiej Bolesławiec – przyp. ii]. County roads are very important due to the development of the Nowogrodziec Municipality, if only because of connections with Bolesławiec, Lubań and Lwówek Śląski. As a municipality that is part of the County, we make a significant contribution to its development—the economic zone operates in our area. Meanwhile, I have the impression that the County neglects us.
Cezary Przybylski: “The County cannot find PLN 9 million for this investment within one or two years. Tasks of this kind are divided into stages. No one forced the mayor of Nowogrodziec to sign this agreement; no one held a gun to his head. How can one make an agreement with a man who does not honour the commitments he signed? To quote a classic: the mayor handles the truth with care. It cannot be said that the County has forgotten about the Nowogrodziec Municipality. Since I became starost, many more investments have been carried out in its area. This year we will build a pavement in Wykroty—entirely from the County’s budget. The mayor is a poor administrator if he is damaging the good cooperation between the Municipality and the County. I am a local-government man; I have been taught to cooperate and solve problems together. And that is what I expect from my partners. In the case of the Nowogrodziec Municipality, this cooperation no longer exists.”
