Daniel Swarovski (1862–1956) was an Austrian of Czech origin, a glassmaker by profession and a jeweller by passion. It was he who patented a unique method of electrically processing crystals, thanks to which the jewellery industry entered a completely new era. Swarovski lead glass (commonly known as crystal) is beautiful, natural, sparkling and clear like diamonds. Decorations made from these crystals became the ideal material for creating exceptional designs. Marylin Monroe once sang that diamonds are a girl’s best friend. Thanks to Swarovski, crystals were elevated to the pinnacle of jewellery-making and rival even diamonds in beauty.
