Mostowa Street is administered by the District Office. There is more than one pothole on it. Three of them are 5 to 10 cm deep and almost a metre in diameter. Drivers who frequently travel along Mostowa Street have memorised how to avoid them. The potholes appeared after the latest thaw, approximately a week ago.
– I remember that pothole – said the Reader. – But all it takes is for a car to come from the opposite direction or for me to become distracted, and I drive a wheel into the huge pothole. Those who do not know this street have it worse, as do those driving along it for the first time after winter. The speed limit on the bridge does not protect against this pothole at all – the driver added.
The deputy manager of the District Roads Authority informed us that he knows about the potholes on Mostowa and that extensive patching on district roads will begin tomorrow. The repair crew will start with Lubańska Street (the outbound section towards Otok and Bożejowice), then move on to Zwycięstwa Street, Wojska Polskiego Avenue and Kubika Street.
– We will patch Mostowa Street next week – said Anatoliusz Koper. – It is a surface from 2001. It has already been patched, but after the recent overnight frosts and daytime thaws, the result is sizeable potholes. The surface on the bridge is a separate matter. It should be replaced, but that would involve enormous costs.
Update – 8 March 2013
The three potholes described in the report were filled with asphalt today. Although provisional, the work will greatly help drivers.
