Representatives of the District Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Bolesławiec, in connection with the planned launch of emergency number 112, ask residents to use the existing emergency numbers. This will help avoid overloading the new number; moreover, dialing an emergency number beginning with the digit "9" will shorten the waiting time for assistance.

The decision to introduce a single, uniform emergency number—112—throughout the European Union was adopted by the Council of Europe in 1991. As a result, residents throughout the European Union can notify the relevant services by calling one telephone number. However, it should be remembered that the emergency numbers for the Emergency Medical Service—999, the State Fire Service—998, and the Police—997—remain active in the country.
