The screenplay for the film “Being Like Kazimierz Deyna” was based on Radosław Paczocha’s novella of the same title. Anna Wieczur-Bluszcz is the screenplay’s co-author and the film’s director. It is her feature-film debut. The film will be screened in Bolesławiec from March 22 (its Polish premiere was on March 1).

The film won the main “Golden Jantar” award at the 31st Koszalin Debut Film Festival. Gabriela Muskała – the actress who plays Deyna’s mother won the main award for best female lead, while Tomasz Naumiuk received a Jantar for the film’s cinematography.

The film has a very strong cast. Przemysław Bluszcz plays the father of the young footballer who was supposed to become like Kazimierz Deyna, while Jerzy Trela plays the grandfather. Adult Kazimierz Deyna is played by Marcin Korcz, who made his cinema debut in the film “Love and Dance” (2009).

In Bolesławiec, from 2003 to 2006, Anna Wieczur-Bluszcz led a theater group at the Bolesławiec Cultural Center (today BOK-MCC). Its members included: Agnieszka Gawlik, Natalia Zbroja, Anna Szaja, Aleksandra Pawłowska, Wojciech Hetman and Konrad Pieszko.

The group had many achievements to its name. In 2006, the play “Life of Pi,” directed by Anna Wieczur-Bluszcz, was presented at many prestigious theater reviews and festivals. The director was awarded for her working methods and artistic achievements at the 13th National Open Festival of Amateur Theaters ODEON in Andrychów. The play also received the audience award at the National Review of Amateur Theaters “Theatrical Collisions at Dorożkarnia 2006” in Warsaw.

In 2006, BOK produced the film “London Can Be Here Too,” directed by Anna Wieczur-Bluszcz. The film was made in cooperation with the Istotne.pl portal as part of the “Kreator” film-education project carried out by Grażyna Hanaf.

The city itself—Bolesławiec—also appeared in the film, with its local character and atmosphere. During filming, Bolesława Prusa Street was closed for an hour while shots were made from a lift. Excellent performances were created by: Joanna Ćwik, Paulina Soroka, and Kacper Trafalski.
