The problem at the Bolesławiec railway station has been known for a long time. Homeless people sleep there, and it is dirty and unpleasant. The Municipal Office wants to take over the station in order to put things in order, but PKP does not agree for now.
After many discussions with representatives of Polskie Koleje Państwowe, the city finally decided to buy, at its own expense, plastic seats that would make it more difficult for homeless people to sleep at the station. They were installed at the end of this week. As it turns out, the homeless have adapted and now sleep in a sitting position, although they could sleep lying down at the shelter on Tysiąclecia Avenue. However, the shelter’s rules prohibit drinking alcohol.
As Boleslawiec.org has learned, PKP is soon expected to renovate the station’s restroom, improve the building’s façade and replace the windowpanes.
