The Nativity play was staged on Friday, 21 December, in the gymnasium of the Major Henryk Sucharski General and Vocational School Complex in Bolesławiec. The performance was prepared by the school’s students under the direction of Sister Anna Mikołajewicz, a religious education teacher.
The story from more than 2,000 years ago was interwoven with thoroughly contemporary themes (during the Nativity play, songs such as “Kiss Kiss” by Iranian-Swedish singer Arash, Psy’s hit “Gangnam Style” and the theme from “The Benny Hill Show” were heard).
“This is what these young people are into, so why not tell a sacred story in a contemporary language?” Sister Mikołajewicz smiles. “The students who performed in this Nativity play enjoy performing and contributing something of themselves. They prepare performances for various occasions and deal with a range of subjects: both serious and entertaining.”
