On the first day of Bolesławiecka Gwiazdka Życzliwości, during the ceremonial opening of the exhibition of entries in the “Good Water in Bolesławiec” competition, prizes were presented to the winning teams. Three teams received tablets. Józef Król, president of PWiK in Bolesławiec, also recognized two additional entries, whose authors received cameras.

– By organizing the “Good Water in Bolesławiec” competition, we wanted to remind the residents of the city and municipality how good our water is – said Józef Król while opening the exhibition. – Our goal was also to unleash young people’s creativity and encourage them to describe the advantages of the place where they live. The winning entries are very imaginative and well made, and their authors deserved valuable prizes – the president added.

The competition received 53 entries from teams representing seventeen schools and the BOK-MCC art studio. Participants were tasked with presenting good water, the city and PWiK in Bolesławiec. The jury awarded three equal first prizes.

They went to children from the first and second grades of the Private Oxpress Primary School. The team was supervised by Izabela Filip. The team consisted of: Hanna Sas, Ksenia Szmal, Olga Mazur, Julia Respondek, Kacper Gzubicki , Mikołaj Szymański and Makary Furtak. The seven- and eight-year-olds wrote several very interesting and amusing poems about Bolesławiec. In their poems, they described our city and its assets—ceramics and good water—particularly well.

The jury also recognized the large-format work by pupils of the II Private Lower Secondary School. The team consisted of: Weronika Naskręt, Gabriela Szpila, Julia Frąszczak, Pablo Stachów, Justyna Pachołek and Agata Liszczyńska. The team was supervised by Barbara Macuga. The pupils prepared a painting in the form of a panorama of Bolesławiec placed on a timeline (15th–19th century). Historical elements of the water supply and sewage systems were highlighted in the city panorama. To prepare the work, the young people attended lectures on the history and operation of water supply systems.

The third prize went to pupils from Primary School No. 4. The team consisted of: Daria Michalska, Wiktoria Kozinoga, Marcelina Kuźnik, Martyna Olszowy, Elisa Laudani and Eliza Sondaj. The team was supervised by Renata Musiał. The girls made a poster showing water flowing from jugs symbolizing the city and PWiK, which healthy, happy children drink (the team members are pictured).

The committee also awarded two special distinctions: to Bartosz Gajda from MZS No. 2, Municipal Lower Secondary School No. 1, for an exceptionally labor-intensive and interesting work—a photograph of a water drop bearing the PWiK logo (supervised by Katarzyna Syguła-Wieczorek)—and to Marek Mieniek from Municipal Lower Secondary School No. 2 for developing a very good and substantive tourist route, “The Ever-Living Spring” (supervised by Ewa Mieniek).

The honorary patrons of the event were city mayor Piotr Roman and Bolesławiec Municipality head Andrzej Dutkowski. The media patron of the competition was the local television station Azart Sat. The Bolesławiec Cultural Centre International Ceramics Centre assisted in organizing the competition.

The children’s works can be viewed in the Forum cinema foyer until the end of December 2012.
