At the next session of the Bolesławiec City Council, which will take place on November 28, councillors will decide on naming streets located in the area of Gdańska, Warszawska, Śluzowa and Lubańska streets.
Once the resolutions come into force, six streets that have so far had no names will be given the following names:
- Cursed Soldiers (a collective name for soldiers of the anti-communist and independence underground who resisted Sovietization after World War II)
- Warsaw Uprising Fighters
- Captain Witold Pilecki (a captain of the Polish Army Cavalry, co-founder of the Secret Polish Army and a Home Army soldier; sentenced to death by the communist authorities of the People's Republic of Poland and executed in 1948)
- Major “Hubal”
- “Lwów Eaglets” (a term referring to young residents of Lviv who, in the absence of Polish military units in Lviv in 1918–1919, defended the city against Ukrainian forces; they also fought Soviet forces in the Polish–Soviet War in 1920)
- Henryk Sienkiewicz.
