The Family Olympics took place on 13 October at the Social Integration Centre on Kościelna Street in Bolesławiec. The event was organized by the Parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Nicholas, a partner in the “Social Revitalization – Take the Chance” programme.
The Family Olympics included:
- sports competitions for entire families (fitness and dexterity competitions)
- “Travels of the World” – beautiful stories from a traveller about amazing places around the world
- games and integration activities for families
- themed competitions: art and music competitions for children aged 7 to 12
- “On the Threshold of Adulthood” – workshops with young people (aged 15–18) addressing the problems and challenges of becoming an adult
- a dance competition combined with dance lessons
- a workshop on how to set a table for a family celebration
- dancing and a shared feast.
The activities aimed to:
- promote children’s participation in sports events and competitions
- stimulate positive social behaviour, interaction and cooperation between younger and older children
- give participants an opportunity to demonstrate creativity and engage in creative activities
- integrate children and parents through active cooperation
- broaden the knowledge of children and adults.
The Family Olympics was organized as part of the “Social Revitalization – Take the Chance” programme, implemented under the Human Capital Operational Programme, Priority I – Employment and Social Integration, Measure 1.2 – System support for social assistance and social integration institutions. The project is co-financed by the European Union through the European Social Fund.
