The symbolic opening of Przyleśna Avenue, located on the outskirts of the municipal forest near Piastów Street, took place on October 17. The avenue, which was designated a group natural monument to protect the hermit beetle, was opened by children and young people from Bolesławiec schools and preschools, as well as members of the Trójrzecze association.

Przyleśna Avenue consists of 57 linden trees. The decaying cavities in the trees were found to contain sites of a protected species of priority importance in the European Union—the hermit beetle. Due to its rarity, this beetle has been included in the Polish Red Data Book as a species vulnerable to extinction.

Tree and Hermit Beetle Day was an excellent opportunity to honor the winners of art competitions and present projects carried out by the Trójrzecze association. The awards ceremony for the competitions “The Hermit Beetle in Bolesławiec” and “My Favorite Tree” took place in the Councilors’ Hall. The awards were presented by the Mayor of Bolesławiec Piotr Roman and Trójrzecze president Magdalena Głogowska.

The event was organized with the support of the Municipal Center for Environmental Education of the Bolesławiec City Hall. The awards were funded by: the Municipal Communal Services Company in Bolesławiec and Bolesławiec Water Park “Orka”.
