The Security and Crisis Management Department of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Office in Wrocław responded positively to requests from the Crisis Management Office of the Bolesławiec County Office. The result? Bolesławiec firefighters received a rescue boat. “Our gravel pits are very popular. A motorized rowing boat is essential if we want to prevent tragedies,” says county head Cezary Przybylski. “This summer, the main problem affecting the safety of children and young people turned out to be precisely the lack of such a boat.”
“There are many gravel pits and bodies of water in Bolesławiec County where swimming is prohibited. However, the regulations are often violated, and signs warning against swimming are stolen and destroyed by vandals,” points out Grzegorz Dziadek, head of the Crisis Management Office. “On July 2, a 15-year-old girl drowned at a gravel pit in Bolesławiec. To recover her body from the water, firefighters were forced to seek help from the Volunteer Water Rescue Service, which was the only organization equipped with a boat intended for this type of operation.”
