An accident is always an unpleasant, and sometimes even tragic, experience. It may result in permanent or temporary damage to health. Unfortunately, accidents sometimes end tragically. Dishonest intermediaries often prey on human misfortune, visiting injured people in hospitals and homes. The fact that this is criminal activity is evidenced by the initiation of proceedings in such a case by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Łódź. The case concerns the trading of personal data by medical staff at healthcare facilities in Łódź hospitals and hospitals in other towns. In the Bolesławiec hospital, next to the orthopedic clinic door, an advertising poster for one of the firms against which prosecutorial proceedings had been conducted is still hanging.

More and more compensation firms are operating on the market, competing to acquire, in a scandalous manner, people who have suffered misfortune. Compensation firms hire intermediaries who approach injured people already in the hospital. Unfortunately, such everyday practices also take place at the hospital in Bolesławiec. Intermediaries leave posters and leaflets at healthcare facilities encouraging injured people to accept unfavorable terms for obtaining compensation. The actions of such people are at least immoral, and their conduct itself raises serious questions about their intentions. Already at the hospital bed, they try to persuade the injured person to sign an agreement to obtain compensation. They invoke a false requirement to sign such an agreement and file claims as quickly as possible. It is well known that people after accidents are often under the influence of strong medication and find it difficult to properly assess the consequences of signing such an agreement. And these agreements are extremely unfavorable for injured people. The costs of obtaining compensation specified in them are very high, as they must provide an appropriate commission for the intermediaries and the firm itself. Commissions for firms can reach as much as 40% of the compensation amount. It should also be considered unacceptable that the compensation is first transferred to the firm’s account and only later—after deducting a high commission disproportionate to the work performed—to the injured person’s account.

One example is an injured woman with a child. The day after leaving the hospital, a “hyena” from a large compensation firm in Lower Silesia appeared at the injured woman’s home. He urged the woman to sign an agreement. He paid no attention to the health of the woman and her child. The woman acted sensibly and did not sign the unfavorable agreement, even though the “hyena” was very persistent and relentless.

It is also puzzling under what circumstances intermediaries come into possession of the personal data of injured people. The Łódź prosecutor’s office has already taken up the matter of trading in personal data. The CBA is also expected to investigate the practice. Source: www.odszkodowania.info.pl/?p=1316

Zbigniew ZAWADA, a compensation adviser and owner of Biuro RONIN, warns against unfavorable agreements and dishonest intermediaries and compensation firms. The office provides comprehensive assistance in pursuing compensation from Polish and foreign insurance companies and the Insurance Guarantee Fund in connection with all kinds of random events.

If we have been involved in an accident, we should not make hasty decisions about pursuing claims, but focus primarily on treatment and recovery, as well as collecting documentation, says Zbigniew Zawada. The owner of Biuro RONIN assures readers that there is plenty of time to pursue compensation claims—from 3 to even 20 years from the date of the accident. Zbigniew Zawada emphasizes that agreements offered by intermediaries of compensation firms are generally not only extremely unfavorable, but often contain so-called prohibited (abusive) clauses, which are included on the list of prohibited clauses maintained by the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection.

Biuro RONIN provides comprehensive compensation services. The Bolesławiec office has operated on the local market for 15 years, since 1997. The office is located in Bolesławiec at 6 Mickiewicza Street, on the second floor. The office’s website: www.biuroronin.pl email address: biuro.ronin@vp.pl. You can visit the office or call to arrange a meeting. Tel./fax: 75 732 19 05 or 505 111 231. The office is open Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Reviewing the documentation is free of charge

The office operates without intermediaries. No one from the office visits people in hospitals or homes. The commission for obtaining compensation is a maximum of 15% gross. Compensation from the insurance company is transferred directly and in full to the injured person’s bank account. Only after receiving the compensation does the client settle accounts with the office.

The office cooperates with law firms and attorneys-at-law from Lower Silesia and Warsaw. In difficult and uncertain cases, clients can always count on legal support from an advocate or attorney-at-law cooperating with the office. The office also cooperates with numerous medical practices in many specialties, where people can obtain assistance or continue treatment after an accident.

Zbigniew Zawada believes that human suffering is not a commodity and must not be traded, as dishonest compensation firms do. Zbigniew ZAWADA himself was involved in a serious road accident in 1990. He can therefore understand the situation of people injured in accidents.

The greatest satisfaction in the adviser’s work comes from the satisfaction of clients, who are also the office’s best recommendation and advertisement.
