Work is being completed on the square adjoining the cultural centre from the Bankowa Street side. The area has been levelled, the parking area has been enlarged, and new paths have been marked out in the square and paved with two-colour paving blocks. Small, grass-seeded islands have been arranged between the paths (the grass has only just been sown).
The ceramic sculpture standing there—a clay arch—has also been put on display. It is a memento and one of the works from the International Ceramic and Sculpture Symposium.
The Ceramic Walk of Fame can now be viewed in front of the entrance to the International Ceramics Centre. The first tiles bear the handprints of: Bronisław Wolanin, Krystyna Gay-Kutschenreiter, Edyta Orlińska, Mateusz Grobelny and Marek Zyga.
The new square will be used during the Ceramic Festival. A medieval potters’ town will be created here by Pracownia Loricamos, which is active in the Polish Knightly Movement as well as similar movements throughout Europe.
The workshop revives lost professions and recreates life in bygone eras. In Bolesławiec, in keeping with the nature of our festival, Loricamos will prepare workshops for visitors and present a demonstration of throwing on a medieval fast-spinning wheel.
The performers will wear medieval costumes and work with period tools, together with residents invited to take part in the fun. Attractions for children and young people will include quizzes (a clay wheel of fortune) and dexterity games (clay puzzles).
The organiser, BOK-MCC, invites everyone to join in the fun during the Bolesławiec Ceramic Festival.
