Students of the Zespół Szkół Handlowych i Usługowych, together with Ms Magdalena Gałkiewicz, prepared a spoken-and-musical performance under the motto “I was waiting for you, and now you have come to me.” Friday’s performance presented the figure of John Paul II as a priest, head of the Church, philosopher, humanist and thinker. The performance began with a communal prayer, led by Rev. Prelate Edward Bober, for the beatification of the Servant of God John Paul II.
The reciters used Karol Wojtyła’s rich body of work to illustrate his interest in God, humanity and the world. Through these texts, the figure of a cheerful person devoted to God and other people emerged. The performance featured Chopin’s music, and the audience could hear “Abba, Father” as well as the Pope’s favourite song, “Barka.”
