The concert’s hosts and performers were students of Primary School No. 4. The school’s dance groups performed on stage – the children danced the Krakowiak and the Polka. Naturally, these dances were performed in appropriate costumes. After tradition came modernity. Fans of the Canon dance group were in for a pleasant surprise. Some of the members of this well-known group are students from Primary School No. 4, as are members of the Bolesławiec Song and Dance Ensemble. The school ensemble Oktawa also performed on stage. In addition, the audience could listen to poems and songs, as well as a jazz etude and the sounds of percussion instruments.
Three teachers prepared the children for Friday’s concert: Barbara Tarnowska, Irmina Nowak and Joanna Krajewska. “The rehearsals lasted throughout the past week,” says Irmina Nowak. “This concert is the work of all the teachers at the school. They discover the students’ talents, suggest ideas, practise with them and enter them in competitions. The three of us simply bring it all together,” adds Irmina Nowak.
Many talented students attend Primary School No. 4. A large number of them successfully take part in various olympiads and subject competitions. The Friday concert showed just how many different achievements Bolesławiec’s Primary School No. 4 has recorded. During breaks between performances, the school’s headteacher Jerzy Zarzycki read out the names of outstanding students.
