The editorial team of the Istotne Informacje website and newspaper deliberately did not advertise this event, which took place today at BOK-MCC. The meeting was organized by the local office of NSZZ “Solidarność” in Bolesławiec and municipal institutions: BOK-MCC and the Museum of Ceramics. A total of just over sixty people attended the meeting.

Jan Pospieszalski described the profiles of Solidarity heroes who, among other things, assess Poland’s transformation after 1989 negatively. He was listened to by an audience whose front rows included people who govern Bolesławiec and prosper very well within the democratic structures of Poland criticized by Pospieszalski and Stankiewicz.

Jan Pospieszalski is a master of conspiracy theories. In presenting them, he divides Poland into two parts. He divides Poles aggressively, stirring up hatred. He divides us into the despicable and the noble, executioners and victims, traitors and the betrayed. This division may become entrenched in the nation for a long time. It is wrong and dishonest. And it will not bring any justice invented by Pospieszalski. It will bring only hatred of brother for brother and sister for sister.

It is all the more upsetting when such a meeting is organized by such an outstanding historian as the director of the Museum of Ceramics, Anna Bober-Tubaj. People serving as directors of cultural institutions should invite guests to their premises with greater consideration. Jan Pospieszalski has supporters in Bolesławiec and will certainly continue to visit them, and they may invite him. But municipal institutions should maintain distance in this matter if they wish to retain their authority.
