Workshops will be held at the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre-International Ceramics Centre as part of BOK-MCC’s original project “Images of Sound”. From 9 July to 13 July, participants will be able to attend classes held in the centre’s studios. The project will conclude with a photography exhibition and the workshop participants’ appearance at the concert of the 5th edition of Blues Night In Bolesławiec.
People living in the Euroregion Nysa (which includes border areas of Poland, the Czech Republic and Germany) may participate in the workshops. The music classes are aimed mainly at young people, students and adults who are actively involved in music. The photography and film workshops are open to anyone with a digital camera, who will be able to improve their skills under the guidance of professionals.
The classes will be led by outstanding specialists in their fields. The vocal class will be taught by one of Poland’s finest jazz musicians, Marek Bałata; Kasia Wilk, winner of the 46th Sopot Festival; and the young and exceptionally talented Lena Romul.
The guitar class will be taught by Polish rock-scene legend Wojciech Hoffmann (Turbo) and outstanding session musician Maciej Gładysz (including E. Bartosiewicz, Wilki and IRA). The bass guitar class will feature one of Poland’s most highly regarded bassists, Piotr Żaczek (Poluzjanci, Kuba Badach, A. Lipnicka and Kayah). The drum class will be led by Berlin-based session musician Lars Friedrich (Yellow-Cap, Poetryclub and Casinoswing).
The image-recording workshops will be led by a German-Polish duo: Apolonia Wieland, a respected photographer from Gorlitz, and Michał Szwed, an instructor at the BOK-MCC Film Education Studio. In addition to their educational aims, these workshops are intended to produce an exhibition of the best works inspired by the music scene and create a film chronicle of the workshops. The exhibition will be shown both at BOK-MCC and in Goerlitz.
Applications are accepted until 29 June. Places are limited, and previous musical experience will largely determine admission. All information about the workshops and concert can be found on the project website or obtained directly from project coordinator Dariusz Uściński (tel. 604 636 530).
