Posters in German about alleged murders supposedly committed by Poles and Czechs against Germans after the war appeared on notice boards and at bus stops in Bolesławiec. The posters appeared overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday. No one had authorized putting them up.
The text of one of the posters reads: "We warmly welcome you to the European Union. Our justice system is already working urgently, because murder is not subject to a statute of limitations." The poster featured photographs and texts reprinted from postwar German newspapers.
The second poster was a copy of a notice issued by the Polish authorities on 14 July 1945. It informed Germans about their resettlement from Polish territories.
The Mayor has already notified the prosecutor’s office of a suspected offense under Article 133 of the Criminal Code, involving the insulting of the Polish Nation and the Republic of Poland, and under Article 256 of the Criminal Code, involving incitement to hatred on the basis of national differences.
Dispatcher Jan Śliwiński of the Municipal Transport Company says that he does not know what was written on the posters, but they were immediately removed from the stops because no one had authorized putting them up. Zbigniew Kowalczyk, deputy director of MOSiR, also ordered that the posters be removed immediately.
