I was drinking raspberry tea because I was ill, from a Bolesławiec ceramic cup, when the telephone rang. I heard giggling, guffawing and tearful laughter through the receiver. Only after a moment did I realize it was an acquaintance who knew how much I enjoyed Kazimierz Marczewski’s articles on Bolec. “Grażyna, you have to listen to this,” my acquaintance said and quoted Bolec’s “Topic of the day”.
“On 12 March 2012, Marzena, a seventeen-year-old secondary-school student, took a dog on a leash to the park on Komuny Paryskiej Street during a long break at school. She did so at the request of her injured uncle Andrzej. Her uncle was unable to go out with his dog. At one point, for unknown reasons, the dog Azor broke free from the leash and ran away. Municipal Police officers on duty noticed this. They tried to catch the dog, but were unsuccessful.”
Intrigued by the dog Azor and Uncle Andrzej, I went to the website. I found the information under the very misleading headline “Is the commander of the Municipal Police in Bolesławiec right?” and saw in the photograph a dog that had “broken free” from its leash. The dog was practically identical to the one that had already ridden in a Municipal Police vehicle and had mainly been seen on the campaign leaflets of a certain candidate for mayor.
In his “journalistic work”, Kazimierz Marczewski changed the first and last names of all the protagonists. He probably thought that such camouflage was perfect. The piece was supposed to be about a young, helpful girl who was slapped with a 200-złoty fine by the officers for failing to keep an eye on Azorek. The poor girl complained that it was “the first time in her life she had experienced such a situation with a dog”. She felt wronged and did not understand why she had immediately been given such a high fine.
Yet Marczewski turned it into a comedy about naïve, pasted-up Marzenka, a pasted-up injured Uncle Andrzej, and a dog who is slowly becoming a Bolesławiec celebrity. I wonder what surname Azorek is hiding (it was provided only for the information of the bolec.info editorial office), because he surely has two first names.
After thanking my acquaintance for the information, I took a sip of raspberry tea from a Bolesławiec ceramic cup and watched my favorite comedy https://youtu.be/tga8yP2wP-s?t=7m35s.
