On April 10, officers from the Criminal Department of the Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters arrested two people suspected of fraud involving electronic equipment. The officers thwarted an attempted fraud and recovered equipment originating from a previously committed crime. Police findings indicate that, using a forged employment certificate, the perpetrators fraudulently obtained consumer electronics from stores on credit. The suspects were caught red-handed in one of the stores while attempting to commit fraud. They tried to obtain a loan for a gaming console and a laptop.
The arrested men are a 57-year-old resident of Lwówek County and a 22-year-old resident of Świdnica County. During further activities, police officers found the vehicle used by the perpetrators in Bolesławiec Municipality. In the vehicle, officers found a television and a laptop. Police findings indicate that the equipment, worth more than PLN 4,000, had previously been fraudulently obtained from another store in the city. Officers are now establishing all the circumstances of the case and do not rule out the possibility that the suspects may have conducted criminal activity in other counties.
The suspects will now stand trial. Obtaining a loan by fraud carries a penalty of up to 8 years’ imprisonment.
