The theft took place at the war cemetery on Willowa Street in Bolesławiec. The thief (or thieves?) dismantled almost the entire fence on the side of the main gate. For identifying the perpetrator, the mayor Piotr Roman announced a non-cash reward worth PLN 500.

Anyone who may help establish the thief’s identity is asked to contact the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters (tel. 75 649 62 30 or 997).

The cemetery on Willowa Street is the burial place of 3,261 Soviet soldiers, 4 Polish soldiers, 25 prisoners of war from German camps, and 10 civilians from the countries of the former USSR. Most of the graves date from 1945, although there are also graves from later years.
