Two athletes from Bolesławiec, members of Poland’s junior national team, took part in the prestigious Belgian Open European Ranking Tournament. More than 1,000 competitors from several dozen countries entered the event. The BO tournament counts toward the individual ETU (European Taekwondo Union) ranking.
In the -46 kg category, Paulina Stojanowska, an athlete with LMKS Gladius Bolesławiec, won a bronze medal. In the semifinal, she lost to Czech athlete Adriana Simankova, who proved to be the best in this weight category. It is worth noting that Adriana visited Bolesławiec at the end of February and prepared for the competition by training together with our taekwondo athletes.
Kamil Serafin stood on the top step of the podium in the -68 kg category, winning the only gold medal for Poland’s junior national team. Kamil is currently the country’s best athlete in his weight category.
Kamil and Paulina receive support through the “Talent” training co-financing program for gifted young athletes, run by the Ministry of Sport and Tourism.
