Four excellent films will be shown to DKF audiences next month. On the first Monday, the Italian film “Something Beautiful” (Polish premiere in March 2012) will be screened. It is a family story set in Livorno in the early 1970s. A jealous husband throws his wife and their two children out of the house. We learn the colorful story of the family through the memories of its members, who meet again after many years apart to uncover secrets from the past. Paolo Virzì’s comedy was Italy’s Oscar candidate.

Another offering is “Machine Gun Preacher,” a fact-based film telling the shocking story of Sam Childers (Gerard Butler), who devoted all his efforts to building an orphanage in war-torn Africa and then headed a police force whose main duty was protecting Sudanese children forced to fight as soldiers.

The film “The Artist” takes viewers back to Hollywood in 1927. Silent-film star George Valentin fears that the arrival of sound in film means the end of his career. It is a story about the rise and fall of film stars and the whims of audiences.

A very interesting offering is “Shame”, starring Michael Fassbender as a 30-year-old, attractive New York bachelor unable to control his sex life. Steve McQueen’s drama examines the nature of sex, intimacy and relationships in the modern world.

Reservations are available on the cinema’s website. Passes cost 20 zlotys.
