In Poland, statistically, someone is diagnosed every hour with blood cancer, or leukemia. One in two patients qualified for a bone marrow transplant from an unrelated donor cannot find such a donor. It is up to us whether this changes. You, too, can save someone's life!
On 30 March (Friday) and 31 March (Saturday), registration of potential bone marrow donors will take place at the General and Vocational School Complex named after Maj. Henryk Sucharski, at Komuny Paryskiej Street. Register—if it turns out that you are someone's genetic twin, you will give someone hope for a new life! Remember to bring your identity document with your PESEL number. Registration takes only a moment, is safe and is carried out under medical supervision. Do not remain indifferent!
The entire undertaking is held under the honorary patronage of the starost, Cezary Przybylski.
On 30–31 March, a fundraising collection will also take place at ZSOiZ. It will be conducted by the DKMS Foundation (Bone Marrow Donors). A raffle will be organized, and there will also be a café where visitors will be able to buy excellent pierogi and delicious cakes prepared by the school's students. All proceeds from the sales will be allocated to bone marrow research.
The event will feature performances by children and young people from the Youth Cultural Centre and the State Music School, a theatrical performance, and interesting lectures delivered by DKMS specialists. During the lectures, young people from lower- and upper-secondary schools will be able to learn more about the idea and aims of the undertaking.
The organizer of Szpikolada is ZSOiZ in Bolesławiec.
