To mark the first day of spring, the Student Council of the Janusz Korczak II General Secondary School in Bolesławiec organized a talent competition. “It is our school tradition,” says Sylwia Skorupa, head of the council.

The school’s students were asked, among other things, to dress up as characters of their choice. That day, the II LO auditorium was visited by, among others, a tribe of cavemen, soldiers, and male and female lifeguards from “Baywatch.”

There were also artistic performances. Everyone gathered in the school auditorium had the opportunity to listen to, among others, Magdalena Sołtysiak from class II b, who sang “Black Velvet” from Alannah Myles’s repertoire; pianist Natalia Nikiforuk; singers Oliwia Gruszka and Amadeusz Skokun; Dawid Wołoch; beatboxers from 2 Beats Story, who performed Rihanna’s “We Found Love” as a trio; and the band Decrepit, fronted by Miłosz Kuduk from class I c.

“I became interested in beatboxing after watching Blady Kris perform on Mam Talent!” says Amadeusz from 2 Beats Story. “I beatboxed on my own for six months, and then I met Dawid.”

As the duo’s members emphasize, beatboxing technique gives artists virtually unlimited possibilities: they can cover dubstep, electro, and rock tracks alike (during their Wednesday performance, the group incorporated Queen’s huge hit “We Will Rock You”). “There are currently few people in Bolesławiec who beatbox,” Dawid says. “We hope that will change soon.”

The class presentations were judged by a panel consisting of: Katarzyna Kwaśniewska, Mieczysław Szwed, Robert Mazur, and council representative Nikodem Kuczyński. Class II b won. Class II c came second, and class II d third.
