A deputy forester discovered unexploded ordnance on Thursday in a forest near Trzebień. Police specialists from the Independent Counter-Terrorist Subunit of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław were called to the scene. They determined that the containers dug out of the ground and scattered around were components of military equipment from the period of World War II.
The police X-rayed the discovery. They suspected that the containers held a time fuse, which probably did not contain chemical or biological warfare agents in its construction. An expert confirmed the police officers’ identification of the objects and then authorized the remote opening of the containers. The police counter-terrorists dismantled the devices into components, enabling their identification.
