On Saturday, an exhibition opening summarizing the two art projects “Constellation” and “Firmament” took place in the foyer of the International Ceramics Centre. Children who took part in the winter-holiday activities organized by BOK-MCC attended the ceremonial opening.
Around 60 children took part in the winter activities. The works they created focused on planets and zodiac signs from various cultures. The activities were led by instructors Magdalena Konieczna, Edyta Orlińska and Mateusz Grobelny.
The MCC foyer is decorated with clay planets inhabited by strange animals and other extraordinary creatures. The aim of the sculpture classes was to introduce children to the techniques of creating and firing large clay objects, as well as glazing them skilfully.
Classes with artists working at BOK-MCC help develop the imagination and provide a thorough introduction to the craft of the sculptor-ceramicist. The young artist goes through every stage of creating a work, from making it and refining its details to the ceremonial opening and presentation of the work and its creator.
That day, the BOK-MCC ceramics and sculpture studio hosted the “March Flower” workshop. For two hours, everyone could try their hand at creating unique gifts for all the women dear to their hearts.
The activities were led by Katarzyna Klepaczek, Dorota Dziedzic-Lechowska and Edyta Orlińska. Tissue-paper flowers proved the most popular. The children made them in a wide range of colours and then combined them into bouquets. They also made various clay cards, whose main motifs were hearts and flowers.
