Piotr Nagiel does not hide the fact that he was a drug addict and an alcoholic. Today, the sober musician is also a therapist at the center where he himself transformed his life. At the concert, his testimony came in the form of the song “In a Drunken World”: “This is how it was with me—I drank for several years. I know what a hangover is; I know detox well, I’ve been there more than once. Those sixty days showed me that I can be sober.”

Piotr’s concerts are a good dose of energetic rock, group therapy, an injection of hope and a meaningful gathering for all sober people. Exceptional viewers gathered at Thursday’s concert at Forum Cinema. Most of them were people whose stories resemble the lyrics of Nagiel’s song.

The concert lasted two hours; afterward, the artist signed albums and talked with viewers. The audience reacted enthusiastically to the songs. They sang and danced along with him. The energetic musician invited the audience to join in the fun, and his message was sincere and convincing. He said that there is hope for every person who drinks, and that life in sobriety tastes like freedom.

The concert was held under the patronage of Mayor Piotr Roman. It was organized with the help of donors and friends of the “Przemiana” Association. The “Istotne Informacje” portal and newspaper served as the event’s media patron.

History of the “Przemiana” Abstinent Association

The association began operating in January 1987 on the initiative of Dr. Tadeusz Kruk. First, a club was established, with Kazimierz Kwiatkowski as its chairman. In 1988, the club adopted the name “Przemiana Abstinent Club” at the Addiction Treatment Clinic in Bolesławiec, affiliated with the Federation of Abstinent Clubs in Poland. KAP actively joined efforts to promote a sober lifestyle. In 1993, it was registered with the court as the Bolesławiec Abstinent Association “Przemiana”.

For 23 years, “Przemiana” has organized the annual Alcohol-Free Ball for abstinent communities and city residents. For more than 10 years, it has organized recurring events focused on the prevention and resolution of alcohol-related problems, aimed not only at association members and sobriety communities, but also at all residents of Bolesławiec. Since 1999, “Przemiana” has also organized rehabilitation stays for people addicted to alcohol, as well as preventive recreation programs for children.

The association has gained many supporters. It strives to do a great deal for others because it is made up of people who were given a chance to return to normal family and working life and who can help others in need.
