In Kruszyn, inside the baroque palace, Joanna Bruździńska presented her first solo exhibition of painting and sculpture. The opening was held in a friendly, warm atmosphere. The paintings and sculptures fit the fireplace room perfectly. A concert of French music performed by Joel and Lidia Beucher—the palace’s artists and owners, who are open to all artistic activities—created an atmospheric mood.
Joanna Bruździńska was born in Bolesławiec. She is a young artist who has been creating for three years. As a teenager, she dreamed of painting and took certain steps toward fulfilling that dream. She applied to the art technical school in Cieplice. Her documents and artworks were accepted, but family traditions, rather than the teenager’s wishes, determined her choice of profession.
Everything changed when Joanna visited the studio of Dariusz Miliński in Pławna. There she learned about the artist’s working methods and began creating. At first, she painted still lifes; later, other subjects appeared in her work. Seeing the young artist’s commitment and talent, Miliński invited her to take part in an outdoor painting session.
Contact with Polish and foreign artists, as well as with various artistic styles, led Joanna to decide that she would begin painting. From that moment on, she devoted every free moment to developing her sensitivity, visual memory and artistic skills. Joanna Bruździńska believes that art is about bringing out what is playing in one’s soul and conveying it to the viewer. One must listen to one’s inner self, consider what one wants to convey, and only then reach for the brush.
A completely new chapter in the artist’s work began when she took part in classes at the art studio run by Mateusz Grobelny at BOK-MCC in Bolesławiec. Virtually all of her sculptures were created in the excellently equipped studio. Last year, the artist presented her series of seven heads, titled “After the night comes the day, and after the storm, calm,” at a group exhibition of participants in BOK-MCC’s art studios at Galeria Długa.
The exhibition at the palace in Kruszyn can be viewed on Saturdays and Sundays from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. until the end of April 2012. Other dates can be arranged by telephone at 509 845 417.
