The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity committee is organizing its first concert on Wednesday, December 28, as part of a series of closed events held ahead of the Finale.
Folk groups will perform from 4:00 p.m. at Municipal School Complex No. 2 in Bolesławiec (Jana Pawła II Street): “Jutrzenka” from Bolesławiec, “Nasza biesiada” and “Kapela Herbutów” from Osiecznica, “Niespodzianka” from Warta Bolesławiecka, and “Wesoła gromadka” from Gromadka.
The featured act will be Czeremszyna from Podlasie, one of the more interesting groups inspired by Slavic folklore. The group consists of nine musicians who play the accordion, guitar, mandolin, violin, bass balalaika, sopiłka (a Ukrainian wind instrument), Slovak fujara, drums, and percussion instruments.
Committee head Henryk Jasiński is asking representatives of the municipalities and Rural Housewives’ Circles to prepare baked goods. The proceeds from their sale could go toward the WOŚP fund. Items for a lottery and things for an auction will also be collected during the concert.
Henryk Jasiński thanks the city authorities, BOK-MCC employees, and Mirosław Sakowski, head of II LO, for lending the carpeting.
