In May this year, we wrote that the local television station „Azart-Sat” was not labeling programs that could negatively affect minors. It was also providing incorrect information about program sponsors. The station’s management did not respond to our comments at the time.

Several months later, we received the position of the National Broadcasting Council. The Council informed us that the television station had in fact not labeled its programs at all and had also provided incorrect information about the program sponsor.

KRRiT called on Azart-Sat to immediately cease such activities.

An inspection of the advertising and sponsorship activities of the program broadcast on 15 and 18 July 2011 by AZART-SAT Sp. z o.o., conducted by the Advertising Department of the Office of the National Broadcasting Council, revealed the improper identification of sponsors in one of the programs. The broadcaster was reminded of the necessity to comply with Article 17(1) of the Broadcasting Act in connection with the amendment to its provisions that entered into force on 23 May 2011. The broadcaster was also called on to refrain from similar activities in the future.

I also inform you that the Programming Department of the Office of KRRiT conducted an inspection of the programming of Azart–Sat Local Television with regard to the broadcaster’s compliance with regulations on the protection of minors. In the programming broadcast from 25–31 July 2011 (approximately one hour of broadcasting per day), none of the programs aired had a label indicating the applicable age category for minors, which constitutes a violation of Article 18(5b) of the Broadcasting Act. The Chairperson of KRRiT, pursuant to Article 10(3) of the aforementioned Act, called on the broadcaster to immediately cease such activities.

Anna Szydłowska- Żurawska
Director of the Presidential Department

Following our article and KRRiT’s intervention, the television station is now complying with the law and labeling its programs appropriately.
