The District Championships of Upper-Secondary Schools in Basketball are now behind us. On Monday, 5 December, the final matches of the competition were played. In the girls’ category, the best team was II LO in Bolesławiec, whose lineup was: Karolina Witkowska (the championship’s best player), Angelika Żuraw, Adriana Matoryn, Natalia Basta, Klaudia Ziembikiewicz, Ola Bojanowska, Aneta Bujak, Maja Letko, Natalia Topolska, Katarzyna Sadlak, Karolina Mojsa, Anna Przybylska and Dominika Sołkiewicz. The basketball players from I LO came second, while the representatives of Zespół Szkół Elektronicznych took third place.
In the boys’ category, the district championship was won by the basketball players from II LO, who played in the following lineup: Tomasz Czerkas (the competition’s best player), Maciej Goss, Jakub Gieszczyk, Jakub Marek, Maciej Chojnacki, Kacper Maziarz, Gaweł Madziołko, Arek Kołomyjski, Marek Wolski, Krzysztof Kleban, Michał Guzowski and Szymon Walera. Both championship teams are coached by Edyta Kwiecińska. The team from I LO came second, while the ZSE team took third place.
Both championship teams advanced to the zonal competition. The competition was organized by the Inter-School Sports Centre, which operates within the structures of the District Centre for Education and Staff Training. The awards for the best players were funded by Mirosław Sakowski, director of II LO.
