We reported on the matter in July in the article Problems with the new road in Zabobrze. Residents of Zabobrze had waited a long time for this road to be renovated. Unfortunately, the quality of the work leaves much to be desired. After rain, puddles form in the street and water floods the driveways to properties.

“The road on Zabobrze Street has not been accepted by the officials,” Agnieszka Gergont, spokesperson for Bolesławiec City Hall, explained to us at the time. “In order to determine the quality and compliance of the reconstruction of Zabobrze Street with the design and the Technical Specification for the Execution and Acceptance of Works, the Municipality of Bolesławiec engaged an external auditing firm.”

The result? At the end of July, the municipality filed a report with the District Prosecutor’s Office in Bolesławiec concerning suspected certification of untruthful information in documentation related to the aforementioned project. “The verification activities carried out justified the suspicion that prohibited acts had been committed, and proceedings in this matter were therefore initiated,” informs Marcin Zarówny of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra.

According to the city authorities, a number of irregularities occurred during the construction work. Water pooling was among the issues noted. Moreover, the contractor probably used waste generated during the project to construct embankments. “Despite this, the documents related to the project confirmed that individual works had been completed in accordance with the technical requirements,” Zarówny adds.

Investigators from Jelenia Góra are currently conducting the proceedings in this matter. We will return to the subject.
