The incident occurred during a nighttime patrol by officers from the Police Station in Nowogrodziec. Officers from the prevention patrol noticed a passenger car whose driver made a sudden manoeuvre upon seeing the police car. She turned from the provincial road onto a gravel road.

This prompted the officers to carry out a check.

Police found methamphetamine

There were two women in the car being checked. A 32-year-old resident of Zgorzelec County was behind the wheel. During the check, it turned out that she did not have a driving licence.

That was not the end of it. In the door pocket on the driver's side, officers found two bags containing a suspicious substance. An examination carried out by a police forensic technician confirmed that the secured material was methamphetamine.

Registration plates assigned to another car

Police also established that the registration plates mounted on the vehicle being checked were assigned to another passenger car.

Officers also suspected that the 32-year-old might have been driving under the influence of an intoxicating substance. As a result, blood was taken from her for laboratory tests.

If the results confirm the presence of the prohibited substance in her body, the woman will also face charges for driving under its influence.

Up to 5 years in prison

The resident of Zgorzelec County will stand trial for the offences committed. She faces up to 5 years in prison.
