The incident occurred in the immediate vicinity of the place where Bolesławiec traffic police officers were conducting a check. Just a few metres from the police, a driver of a passenger car hit a vehicle whose driver had begun turning left.

The officers immediately took action involving the participants in the collision. While checking the 49-year-old’s details in police systems, they discovered that the man was not permitted to drive any motor vehicle.

The court-imposed ban is valid until 2030

As the officers established, the 49-year-old was subject to an active court-imposed ban on driving motor vehicles. The ban was issued by the District Court in Lubań and is valid until 2030.

However, this was not the end of the officers’ findings. They were also struck by the driver’s restless behaviour, so they conducted a drug test.

The drug test detected intoxicating substances

The test result indicated the presence of intoxicating substances in the man’s system. Further tests are required to confirm the result definitively.

The 49-year-old will be held responsible for causing the collision and violating the court-imposed driving ban. He faces up to five years in prison. If further tests confirm the presence of intoxicating substances, he will also have to face liability for driving under their influence.
