The incident took place several days ago in one of the towns in Karkonosze County. Jelenia Góra police determined that during the conflict, a 42-year-old man threatened his neighbor and members of his family with death and bodily harm.
The situation was particularly dangerous because the aggressor was holding an air rifle. Moreover, he also had a knife. Fearing for their lives and health, the victims notified the Police.
Police detained a 42-year-old man
Officers from the Traffic Department of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra were sent to the scene. The officers arrived immediately after receiving the report and detained a 42-year-old resident of Karkonosze County.
The man was taken to a police detention facility. The officers also checked his sobriety. The test showed 0.6 per mille of alcohol in his system.
After sobering up, the 42-year-old man was charged with making criminal threats. He was then escorted by police officers to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra.
The prosecutor imposed preventive measures
After reviewing the case, the prosecutor placed the suspect under police supervision. The man is also prohibited from approaching or contacting the victims, and from leaving the country.
The suspect faces up to three years in prison for making criminal threats. The court will decide his future.
Police remind the public that threats made against other people should be taken seriously, especially when accompanied by aggressive behavior or the use of objects that may cause fear for someone’s life or health.
In the event of a real threat, officers urge people not to confront an aggressive person on their own. The Police should be notified as soon as possible by calling the emergency number 112.
