“Gazeta Wyborcza” has described new details of the police operation in Kraśnik Górny, during which a 29-year-old officer of the Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters was fatally shot.

According to the newspaper’s findings, on Thursday, September 24, before 11 a.m., ten criminal police officers arrived at the property. They were checking information about items that might have been connected with car thefts. Mariusz G. was not at home at the time. The officers found two other people at the site. They arrested one of the men, who was also wanted; two officers took him to the police headquarters.

As reported by “Wyborcza,” one of the residents allegedly informed Mariusz G. that police were present and carrying out activities. The man arrived at the house and began shooting. Natan Sieroń, dressed in civilian clothes but wearing a vest marked “police,” was standing in front of the property. He was shot in the head.

After the shots were fired, Mariusz G. fled, and the officers began pursuing him. According to the newspaper’s account, while fleeing, the man also tried to shoot at the officers chasing him. They returned fire. The suspect abandoned his weapon and was arrested. The wounded officer was taken to hospital, where he died on September 25.

The prosecutor’s office had previously confirmed that the 33-year-old fired a 9 mm Browning HP pistol. The man was remanded in custody. He was charged with attempting to murder an officer, and after Natan Sieroń’s death, the prosecutor’s office announced that it would change the legal classification of the act to murder.

“Wyborcza” also reports that the course of the operation is being analyzed by the Police Internal Affairs Bureau, as well as the inspection departments of the provincial police headquarters and the National Police Headquarters. Among other things, they are to determine what information about the threat the officers had before arriving at the property. For now, there are no grounds for prejudging the results of these inspections.

From September 1, Natan Sieroń served in the criminal section of the Bolesławiec police. He had previously worked in patrol service.
