On Friday, 23 September, a ceremony was held in Warsaw to name a Mokotów area Chorwacki Square (located at the intersection of Stępińska, Nowotarska and Sielecka streets). The ceremony was attended, among others, by the capital’s mayor Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz, Croatian President Ivo Josipović and that country’s ambassador Ivan Del Vecchio.
The ceremony was enhanced by a performance from the well-known Gminny Zespół Pieśni i Tańca „Jutrzenka”, which sang both Polish and Croatian songs.
For years, events commemorating the return of large groups of Poles to their homeland have been held in Bolesławiec County. Many residents of our county still cultivate the customs, rituals and culinary traditions of those regions. South Slavic songs are still remembered and sung. For this reason, events with a Balkan theme remain consistently popular both in Bolesławiec and in the surrounding municipalities.
