The District Prosecutor’s Office in Lwówek Śląski has revealed new details of the case involving a 28-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County, who fled from police officers twice last week. The man had a lifetime ban on driving any motor vehicles, and during one of the escapes he was driving after using methamphetamine.
The first chase took place on September 9, 2026. Officers from the County Police Headquarters in Lwówek Śląski intended to stop a Volkswagen Golf for inspection. However, the driver did not respond to the officers’ orders and continued driving.
The officers pursued him. After several kilometers, they managed to stop the car. It then emerged that the 28-year-old was subject to a court-imposed lifetime ban on driving any motor vehicles. The Volkswagen was secured at the police parking lot.
He got behind the wheel again two days later
But the matter did not end there. On September 11, the man came with an acquaintance to the police parking lot to collect the car. After leaving the parking lot, he again took the driver’s seat despite the lifetime ban still being in force.
The police noticed what was happening and, for the second time in just two days, began pursuing him.
This time, the 28-year-old drove in a manner posing a serious threat to other road users. He was speeding, crossed a solid line and overtook other vehicles in prohibited places, including pedestrian crossings.
He drove the car toward the police officers
The officers set up a roadblock to stop the fugitive. However, the man had no intention of surrendering.
Driving at excessive speed in the left lane, he steered the car toward the police officers in an attempt to avoid being stopped. The officers had to jump aside.
The 28-year-old evaded the roadblock and continued his escape. As previously reported, he damaged the car during the chase, but did not stop driving. The officers eventually managed to arrest him.
He was under the influence of methamphetamine. He also had marijuana on him
After his arrest, it emerged that the man had not only violated the court-ordered driving ban. Tests showed that he was under the influence of methamphetamine.
Moreover, the officers found illegal substances on him. He had 1.26 grams of methamphetamine and 0.73 grams of marijuana.
The District Prosecutor’s Office in Lwówek Śląski is conducting an investigation into the case. The 28-year-old was charged, among other things, with failing to stop for inspection, driving despite a lifetime ban, driving after using a psychotropic substance, creating an immediate danger of a disaster in land traffic, possessing a psychotropic substance and a narcotic drug, and an active assault on police officers.
The 28-year-old was remanded in custody
The man admitted to committing the alleged offenses but refused to give explanations. At the prosecutor’s request, the court ordered him held in temporary detention for three months.
The offenses with which the 28-year-old is charged carry a penalty of up to 10 years in prison. The man had already been convicted. Investigators said:
