The incident occurred in Wleń. During a patrol, officers from the Prevention Department noticed the driver of a BMW and decided to stop the car for a check. Despite clear visual and audible signals, the driver failed to comply with the order and continued driving.
The officers pursued him. After a brief escape, the driver stopped the car, abandoned it and began fleeing on foot. It did not help much. The police detained him after several dozen metres.
It turned out that the 18-year-old did not have a driving licence. The police also took a blood sample from him for testing. The tests will determine whether the teenager had intoxicating substances in his system.
The young man was placed in a police cell. The following day, he was charged with failing to stop for a traffic check despite the visual and audible signals issued by police officers.
Failing to stop for a check and continuing to drive despite an order from an authorised person to stop a motor vehicle carries a penalty of up to five years in prison.
