Residents and people staying in Bolesławiec County should pay particular attention to the weather forecast. The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management has issued a second-degree meteorological warning for heavy rain with storms.

The warning will come into force on Friday, 21 August, at 5:00 p.m. and will remain in effect until Saturday, 22 August, at 6:00 a.m.. The probability of the forecast phenomena occurring was set at 80 percent.

According to the forecast, moderate rainfall is expected, heavy at times. Rainfall totals may reach 40 to 60 mm in places, and locally as much as 70 mm.

The rain is expected to be accompanied by storms, during which wind gusts may reach up to 80 km/h. Forecasters also do not rule out hail.

This warning is also important because the Ceramics Festival is currently taking place in Bolesławiec. During severe weather, being outdoors, strong winds and intense rainfall causing local flooding may be particularly dangerous.

The warning may be updated.

Take care!

During a storm, it is best to remain indoors and avoid going into open areas. It is advisable to close windows, secure items on balconies and terraces, and limit the use of electrical devices connected to the mains. If a storm catches us in a car, the safest option is to stop in a safe place and wait out the storm inside the vehicle.

Outdoors, avoid staying under isolated trees, near power poles or over water, where the risk of being struck by lightning is particularly high. Drivers should keep a greater distance from other vehicles, adjust their speed to the conditions and watch out for possible local flooding and broken branches that may appear on roads during heavy rain and strong winds.
