Update

The soldier from Świętoszów achieved his goal. The following was posted on social media:

Thank you very much for taking part❤️ once Irek gets some rest, he will certainly address you himself❤️you all showed once again that there are more good people than bad ones🥹

Let us recall. On August 13, we reported that soldier Ireneusz Kudelski began his run on Tuesday, August 11, at 9 a.m. By Saturday, August 15, he wanted to complete the entire distance of as much as 444 kilometers. It was an enormous physical challenge, but this time his goal was not solely a sporting result.

The runner decided to use his effort to help little Jaś. The boy is currently one year old and was born with a very serious heart defect. He has a single-ventricle heart and a complex defect involving, among other things, double outlet of the great arteries.

One-year-old Jaś has already undergone two heart operations

Despite such serious health problems, Jaś fights every day for his health and proper development. During his first year of life, he has already undergone two heart operations, and further stages of treatment lie ahead.

The family needs funds, among other things, for rehabilitation, medication, travel and hospital stays, as well as other expenses related to the boy’s treatment and continued development.

That is why Warrant Officer Ireneusz Kudelski decided to take on one of the most difficult running challenges imaginable. He intends to run the 444 kilometers of the Main Sudetes Trail in less than 100 hours.

Every kilometer is meant to help Jaś

The organizers of the campaign emphasize that the soldier’s effort is primarily intended to help publicize the fundraiser for the boy. It is not only the sporting result that matters, but also generating interest in Jaś’s story and reaching as many people as possible with information about the fundraiser.

“444 km for a little heart” is the slogan accompanying this extraordinary attempt.

You can help!

The boy’s family encourages people to support the fundraiser and share information about the campaign. Every donation can help cover the costs of further treatment and rehabilitation. More information: sercedziecka.org.pl/pomagam/jan-zurek-zegarski.

For Ireneusz Kudelski, every additional kilometer of the Main Sudetes Trail therefore has special significance. This time, the 444 kilometers are not merely a test of endurance—they are intended as a way to help a little boy who still has a long road to recovery ahead of him.
