More and more people, when choosing a beauty treatment or massage, are looking for something more than a specific service performed according to a single formula. The care result matters, but so do rest, atmosphere, comfort and an individual approach.
This is the principle on which Agnieszka Opała, owner of Day Spa Magia Orientu in Bolesławiec, bases her work. The salon offers facial and body treatments, massages and care rituals. Their selection is intended to depend not only on what the client chooses from the menu, but above all on their needs and the body’s reactions.
“Every person is different; everyone has different needs. That is why you have to really observe that person. You have to watch how the body behaves. Naturally, we first talk about what someone expects, but later you can see and feel a great deal during the work itself,” says Agnieszka Opała.
The Face Also Needs an Individual Approach
Facial treatments make up a significant part of Magia Orientu’s offer. Here too, the owner emphasizes, it is not only about completing the successive stages of a cosmetic procedure.
A treatment may be combined with massage, relaxation and techniques selected according to the condition of the skin and the needs of the individual.
“I am constantly looking for something with which I can surprise the client. It may be an interesting facial treatment, but not everything has to be intensive all the time. Such a treatment can begin or end with a relaxing massage. The point is to combine different techniques and observe the person’s reaction,” Agnieszka explains.
One of the techniques used in facial care is Kobido, associated primarily with an intensive manual facial massage. For some clients, the visual and skincare effect is important; for others, the opportunity to calm down during the treatment is equally significant.
Lymphatic Drainage—Especially When Swelling Appears
Another treatment worth considering, especially during the warmer months, is lymphatic drainage. This is a gentle manual technique intended to support the flow of lymph. It can help reduce feelings of heaviness and swelling.
In summer, especially during hot weather, many people complain of swollen legs or a feeling of water retention. In such situations, properly performed drainage may be one way of supporting the body’s natural processes.
Here too, however, the most important thing is an individual approach, because not every treatment is suitable for every person, and health conditions and any contraindications must be taken into account before it is performed.

Holistically—Not Just “It Hurts Here”
The holistic approach described by the owner of Magia Orientu means looking more broadly than solely at a specific part of the body.
Someone may come in with a tense neck or tight back, but stress, exhaustion or prolonged emotional strain may also affect their well-being and muscle tension.
“I often look for the cause. Sometimes it is emotions, blockages, things that someone has been carrying inside for a long time. It may be excessive emotional tension that a person cannot cope with. After all, people do not function as though the body were completely separate from how they feel,” says Agnieszka Opała.
This approach should of course not be treated as a substitute for medical diagnosis, physiotherapy or psychotherapy. Above all, it is about paying attention to the person as a whole and recognizing that everyday stress and well-being can also affect the body.
Some Want to Talk, Others Need Silence
Agnieszka Opała notes that clients’ expectations are changing as well. Not everyone comes solely for a cosmetic result.
“Some people use treatments to improve their appearance, while others come to find their five minutes, rest and relax. Some want to talk about their problems during the treatment and get something weighing them down off their chest. Others want to spend that time in complete peace. That is precisely why individual work offers so many possibilities,” she says.
The owner of Magia Orientu also draws attention to things that may at first glance seem like mere extras: lighting, music, scent, the rhythm of the treatment and the way touch is applied.
“More and more people will need a place from which they leave feeling that they have taken a breath of fresh air, received some energy and regained the desire to act. Conversation, the way the massage is performed, suitable lighting, music or the rhythm of the work can all have an influence. Touch is very important. It is not only touch itself, but also the way it is applied that can affect calm and relaxation,” she says.
“A Good Massage Therapist Feels It Under Their Hands”
Massage remains an important part of this approach, but it is not performed according to a single pattern.
“You can establish beforehand whether someone wants a sports massage, a stronger one or a more relaxing one. But afterward, a truly good massage therapist feels under their hands how they should work,” says Agnieszka Opała.
She herself does not support limiting a relaxing massage solely to very gentle stroking.
“I incorporate various techniques. It is not strong pressure, but there are certain points used, among other places, in traditional Chinese medicine techniques. Gentle, momentary pressure can create a very deep sense of relaxation. Sometimes you can see truly powerful emotions and moved feelings, even though the massage itself does not have to hurt at all,” she says.
More Than 17 Years of Working with People
Agnieszka Opała has worked in the industry for more than 17 years. As she emphasizes, despite this extensive experience, she does not want to remain within formulas that have been proven over the years.
“I am grateful to the people who come here. I am here for them, I work for them and I continue to improve my qualifications for them. But they also give me strength, motivation and energy,” she says.
It is precisely observing the effects of the treatments that is meant to be her greatest motivation for continuing her work.
“It is wonderful to see someone arrive tired and leave with their head held high, standing straighter, sometimes with tears in their eyes. You put your heart into this work and see that it reaches someone,” she says.
She adds:
“I do not want it to be the case after several or a dozen years that I perform only tired, standard routines. I want to keep looking for something new. Combine techniques and observe reactions. You can see tense muscles and a grimace on the face, but very often you can also see a smile. And that is the most wonderful thing one can see.”
This is where Agnieszka Opała sees the meaning of a holistic approach: a facial treatment, massage or body care do not have to be separate worlds. They can be combined and adapted to meet what a particular person needs at a given moment—both in terms of care and the simple need for rest.
