“We’re starting!” – Ceramika Artystyczna “Kaola” – Kaola Studio announced on social media. It was also recalled that a year has just passed since the creation of the “Friendship Gate”, and work on another project is beginning on Prusa Street.
A year after the “Friendship Gate”, it is time for another work
The new installation continues an idea that began to be implemented on Prusa Street last year. At that time, the “Bolesławiec Friendship Gate” was created – a ceramic composition that quickly attracted the attention of residents and tourists.
The work became one of the street’s distinctive landmarks and a popular photo spot for visitors to Bolesławiec. However, the project envisioned much more than creating a single decoration.
Andrzej Pachom wants to gradually add further ceramic installations to the façades of the buildings located along the street. In this way, Prusa Street is intended to become an artistic space over time, strongly connected with Bolesławiec’s ceramic traditions.
Work has just begun
According to earlier announcements, work on the new installation was scheduled to begin on August 10. The deadline was met – the artist has just announced that work is underway.
This means that Bolesławiec residents and tourists can watch another ceramic work being created directly on Prusa Street.
The installation is expected to be ready for this year’s Festival of Ceramics, which will take place in Bolesławiec from August 19 to 23. The new decoration could therefore become another attraction for visitors to see during the event.
Prusa Street is to become a ceramics gallery
Andrzej Pachom’s idea forms part of a broader vision of using ceramics not only in studios and shops, but also in public spaces.
Prusa Street already stands out thanks to the “Friendship Gate”. Further installations could mean that in the future it will be possible to walk along it as through an open-air gallery, viewing ceramic compositions placed on successive façades.
It is also a way to emphasize Bolesławiec’s character as a city associated with ceramics for generations. Especially since Andrzej Pachom’s ceramic installations can also be found in other parts of the city.
The artist is the author of, among other works, the ceramic paintings decorating the Orka swimming pool, the conference room of the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre – International Ceramics Centre, and the composition located on the façade of the “Bolesławiec” Ceramic Plants building.
