Criminal investigators halted the activities of a 45-year-old resident of Złotoryja County, who had set up an illegal alcohol production facility in his home. During the search, officers seized 360 liters of moonshine stored in plastic containers and glass bottles. None of the packages bore excise stamps. Police also seized complete equipment used to produce alcohol. It had been manufactured without the required permit.

Drugs were also found in the house

The officers' findings did not end there. During the search, police also discovered dried plant material and a crystalline substance. Preliminary tests showed that the seized substances were marijuana and methamphetamine. All the seized property was handed over for specialist laboratory testing.

The tests are intended, among other things, to determine the alcohol concentration in the seized containers and bottles.

The 45-year-old faces charges

The 45-year-old was charged with possession of narcotic drugs. This offense carries a penalty of up to 3 years in prison.

Police also remind the public that producing ethyl alcohol without the required permit is punishable by a fine, restriction of liberty, or imprisonment for up to 3 years.

The seized alcohol and the equipment used to produce it will remain evidence in the ongoing proceedings.

Police warn against illegal alcohol

Officers appeal to the public not to buy alcohol from illegal sources. In the case of products manufactured outside the legal market, there is no certainty about their chemical composition or the method of production.

Police point out that alcohol produced at home may contain, among other things, methanol, toxic contaminants, or substances formed as a result of improper distillation.

Consuming such a product may lead to severe poisoning and, in extreme cases, even death.

Officers:

We appeal to the public not to buy illegal alcohol, as we do not know its chemical composition. Alcohol produced at home may contain methanol, toxic contaminants, or substances formed as a result of poor distillation. Moonshine produced under such conditions, without permits, supervision, or quality control, is a potential poison that may lead to severe poisoning or death if consumed.
